Pets everywhere were highly confused this week by daylight savings time and the clocks being set back an hour. As humans, we understand the concept—but even we have a tendency to struggle with the change. One day you’re eating dinner at 6:00 p.m. while it’s still light out, and the next, you’re starving at 4:30 because the sun has already started to go down.
One sweet Golden Retriever named Pearl was especially offended that her mom just sat there while she was clearly starving. The darkness outside told her it was well past dinnertime—but in reality, her meal wasn’t late at all.
Poor Pearl just couldn’t deal with a “late” dinner. She tried everything to get her mom to understand her desperate need to be fed. She tried woofs, tippy taps on the wood floor, and even just old-fashioned staring to get her point across.

At one point, the Golden even broke into a full-on yodeling routine while prancing backwards, as if to say, “Come on, Mom… this is serious!” This precious pup tried all her usual tricks to show her human that she meant business.
Mom Reaches Out to Viewers
In the comments, Mom asked, “Any other dog owners going through this tonight?! 5:00 p.m. is dinner time and Pearl was throwing a MASSIVE fit at 3:50 p.m.!” Many other paw-rents responded saying that their four-legged family members were having a tough time with the adjustment as well.
One commenter shared, “Mine is actively throwing a tantrum. He gets dinner later than most dogs because I work, and he’s acting like I’m starving him!” Another person added, “Worst day of the year of dog parents. We were traveling and had an extra hour in addition to the time change—so our hysterics started at 3 p.m.!”
Pearl’s extra-dramatic doggie temper tantrum proves that dogs absolutely do not care what the clock says—they only listen to what their stomachs are saying! It’s clear that this Golden Retriever’s tummy is rumbling! Hopefully all the hungry pups out there survive this “ruff” transition to daylight savings!
