This Cat Giving Another Cat a Massage Might Be the Cutest Thing You See All Day

Oh, to be a cat giving another cat a massage. That would be the life—and it is for these two adorable pets.

The adorable YouTube short is exactly that, just two cats hanging out, one being extremely lazy in the best way, while the other makes kitty biscuits on the first cat’s back.

“Is the pressure okay? I’m working hard here!” the video caption says.

We, too, would melt on the couch if we got a kitty massage like this.

“I have an orange cat who would do the exact same thing!” one comment says. “It’s SO hard to be the cat!”

“Working hard or hardly working?” another commenter asks.

“I’m guessing that there was a lost bet involved,” another jokes.

Why Do Cats Give Massages?

If you have a cat at home, you’ve likely been the recipient of a kitty massage, too, even if it was on your stomach or your face.

Cats have a natural instinct to “knead,” which is a sign of happiness and relaxation. Your cat might even purr while kneading you, or the couch or bed.

This act of kneading is a bit like preparing a nest. It’s likely your cat will take a nice lie down wherever they’ve just massaged the blanket, or on your lap.

When your cat gives you a massage, it’s a strong sign of affection as well. This is a bonding activity, and it also gives your cat a chance to blend its scent with yours, as cat paws carry scent glands.

While we often think of massages as relaxing stretches for the recipient, this movement also promotes healthy blood flow in your cat’s muscles. This is a win-win activity if there ever was one.

Of course, it would be nice if your cat learned to add a bit of essential oils into the kneading routine, but that might be asking for a little too much. Just let your cat knead your lap and make themselves a nice little nest on the blanket. It’s a good thing, even if it’s not the same as a trip to the spa.
