In the wide world of cute cats, there’s a slew of unique felines with the kind of envy-worthy features that get the internet buzzing. One little lady is making an impact already, and it’s all because of her stunning eye color.

Ruby, the black Maine Coon kitten, has the kind of peepers that rival the most sparkling, expensive, and jaw-dropping diamonds in the world! You have to see this gorgeous set of eyes to be a true believer!

Ruby is a total Aquarius (a girl after my own heart) and even at her young age, she’s already a superstar! Those unique, bright blue eyes are wildly uncommon among black Maine Coon kittens, and they’re hypnotizing. Like the Hope Diamond or the most vibrant sapphires in the world, this is one beautiful kitten!

Not only are Ruby’s eyes way too pretty, but having the mostly black, silky coat with blotches of white makes her look like a museum painting. As she grows older, I’ll bet she gets even more perfect because her blue eyes are here to stay.

In case you need to see this princess up close and personal, here’s another view of our queen.

How Rare Are Blue Eyes in Black Maine Coons?

When kittens are born, they all have those striking blue eyes, but the color changes as they get older. In Maine Coons—specifically all-black MCs—blue eyes will eventually morph into gold, copper, or green sometime between 10 and 12 weeks of age. Typically, white cats or bicolor kitties are the ones who get to keep blue eyes, so Ruby is a miracle baby.

Those Black Cats lucky enough to get blue eyes that stay blue are considered extremely rare and against the Maine Coon breed standard. The one-of-a-kind coloring is linked to the white gene (which is a lack of pigment), juxtaposing it with the high level of melanin that gives the black coat its color.

Some Maine Coon kittens have Dominant Blue Eye, a genetic mutation, but in Ruby’s case, she’s just a lucky girl stealing hearts with her rare and darling diamond gaze!
