Mom Rates the ‘Spice Level’ of Her Cats During Nail Trims and It’s Cracking Us Up

If there’s one thing most fur babies aren’t fans of, it’s nail trims. My dog absolutely refuses to let me touch hers, but somehow, at the groomer, it’s no big deal. As for our cat? I wouldn’t even try; she won’t let us near her paws!

Milo is a very opinionated cat with plenty to say about everything. His mom recently shared a TikTok rating the “spiciness levels” of Milo and the other cats’ (Maise and Poppy) reactions to having their nails trimmed. Make sure your sound is on for this one; the cats’ reactions are absolutely hilarious!

That Milo wasn’t pitching a fit about having his nails trimmed and narrating the entire scene was so surprising! And we laughed about what Mom said in the video’s caption: “Not sure Poppy knows she exists.” She was certainly very chill on the spicy level! Commenter @B joked, “Poppy didn’t even know her nails were being trimmed!”

@Renee Cress suggested, “Have someone give them a special cat treat they can lick on while you’re cutting their nails. My cat’s spice level went from a 10 down to 3!”

Tips for Trimming a Cat’s Nails

I headed over to Chewyto get some tips from the pros to help your kitty relax during nail trims. Some of the tips they offered were simple enough, like working on helping your cat get desensitized to having their paws held and handled, and wearing them out so they’re relaxed during the process.

They included some other tips as well:

Stay relaxed: Your kitty is masterful at reading your energy. If they sense that you are anxious or worried, they may want no part of the event. Fake it if necessary.

Play soft music: Classical guitar, meditation songs, or any type of soothing music can help both you and your cat relax—as long as it doesn’t have bird calls in it.

Use feline pheromones: Stress-relieving pheromones, like Feliway spray, can help your cat chill out when it’s time for a trim.

Use cat treats as a reward: For food-motivated kitties, treats can be a powerful motivator to help put them at ease and make the process enjoyable.

If all fails, give the groomer a call and book an appointment to save yourself the headache!
