Woman Hilariously Annoys Her Frenchie and People Can’t Get Enough

One of the funniest trends going around social media right now is people “rage baiting” their pets: purposely doing something mildly annoying just to see how their furry friend reacts. My son thinks it’s hilarious to do this to our dog. He tells her to sit, then asks her to shake, and the second she puts her paw in his hand, he pulls away and immediately asks her to shake again. She gets so confused because she’s trying to do what he’s asking her to do!

TikToker @rex.the.bulldogg decided to try the trend on her French bulldog, Rex. He’s sprawled out on her bed, fully “frogged out” with his little legs stretched in front and behind him, just minding his own business. Mom can’t resist poking him over and over, and the way Rex reacts with tiny scoots forward is just too cute for words!

In the video’s caption, Rex’s mom admits, “The scoot up is so funny! LOL! He is tired of me…” The video’s been viewed close to 2 million times and has nearly 250,000 likes – it’s safe to say that everybody thinks that the Frenchie’s scoot is funny!

Why Rage Baiting Your Dog Isn’t Funny

As pawrents, we might get a kick out of rage baiting our pets because their reactions are usually entertaining, but according to Bone-a-Fide Dog Training, it’s a bad idea to tease your furry friend. “This “trend” involves annoying, tormenting, and pressuring a dog until the dog is visibly distressed, defensive, or aggressive.” That’s not always the case in the videos we’ve watched, but we have seen this happen in some cases.

Here’s the truth: your dog doesn’t think it’s funny. When a dog growls, snarls, yips, or lunges at you, they’re not “being dramatic.” They’re communicating. It’s your job as a responsible pet owner to take those signals seriously. Dogs can be silly, but they don’t pretend to be upset for laughs.”

The article offers this reminder, “A growl means one simple thing: ‘Please stop.” It is not aggression. It’s communication.”

That doesn’t mean you can’t play and have fun with your dog, but you do need to understand how they communicate. “It’s worth noting here that roughhousing with your dog is not inherently bad. Dogs love to roughhouse, and it can be so much fun to play like a dog. The caveat is that you must also learn to communicate like a dog if you want to play like one.”
