Secretariat’s Grandson Horse Blowing Bubbles Is Everything

Secretariat is, like, thehorse. Everyone knows about Secretariat! He was an absolute force to be reckoned with, and these days, so many pride themselves on having a horse who comes from his bloodline. Those horses have a serious legacy to uphold!

That might sound like a lot of pressure for a horse, and it certainly is. However, every horse has to have a little fun! They don’t call it “horsing around” for no reason, after all, and even Secretariat’s descendants deserve a little treat.

Recently, we got to see one of Secretariat’s grandsons. Was he tearing up the racetrack? No. Training? Also no. Even better: he had a bucket of tea, and he was blowing bubbles like a child in a restaurant:

Mark the Thoroughbred is so cute. He’s definitely a hard worker, and he’s been trained very well, but he’s a silly guy. He likes to play around with his friends and his mom, and he gets tons of treats all the time.

He comes running when he hears mom in the pasture, or even better, when she has the tea bucket. He lives in the pasture full-time with a bunch of other horses. Though his mom was scared to go through with it at first, she’s glad she did. He’s thriving.

Mark gets to have tea occasionally. Unsweetened tea can have tons of benefits for horses, depending on the variety you choose. For example, there are a few common types of tea people offer:

  1. Peppermint tea: helps them with digestion.

  2. Dandelion tea: improves kidney function.

  3. Chamomile tea: can help reduce stress.

  4. All liquids: good for blowing bubbles.

Mark also loves wearing a little blanket in the wintertime:

What a handsome boy with an awesome attitude. I love absolutely everything about him, famous great-great-grandad or not!

Secretariat Has Many Descendants

Secretariat was born on March 30th, 1970. He lived until October 4th, 1989, dying at 19 after being humanely euthanized due to a condition called laminitis. Essentially, it was a very painful hoof disease.

Though it’s unknown exactly how many racing horses (or horses in general) are descendants of Secretariat, there are 660 registered foals who he sired. He had a very extensive breeding career that has produced some very successful racehorses… And at least one bubble-loving baby!
