Franklin is a 10-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy who is checking out all that life has to offer—and every day is a little different. His family recently got a good bit of snow, and he couldn’t wait to go out and play. Mom captured a hilarious moment on video and thankfully shared it with all of @yournewfriendfranklin’s fans on TikTok.
Some dogs love playing in water—whether it’s a swim in a backyard pool, a dip at the lake, or rolling around in a giant muddy puddle. Other pups enjoy snowy weather and can’t wait to run around outside when the snowflakes start falling. Franklin, the Bernese Mountain Dog, is definitely that guy!
As Mom opens the back door, it’s clear that Franklin has already enjoyed plenty of blustery, snowy playtime. In her sweet puppy-mom voice, she says, “Hey, Franklin!” before quickly realizing that maybe he needs a good shake-off before coming inside. So, she excitedly suggests, “Oh, hey, can we go shake off outside?” as she leads him back out—in her house slippers!
Mom is soon standing out in the cold snow while the Berner pauses just inside the doorway, staring at her. She repeats herself, saying, “Come on, let’s go shake off outside.” Unfortunately for Mom, this sounded less like a suggestion and more like an invitation. The giant fluffball seized the opportunity and ran straight toward her, putting all of his weight behind his snow day greeting!

It’s not entirely clear whether Mom took a tumble, but our money is on yes—she probably did. In that brief moment, though, Franklin was living his best life, with both his favorite human and the snow all in one place!
Let’s Check in With Franklin’s Fans
Many viewers suggested in the comment section that it was all part of Franklin’s master plan. @boogyyman1 joked that the voice in Franklin’s head was saying, “OMG, IT’S HAPPENING, THE HUMAN IS COMING OUTSIDE TO PLAY,” while @S’mores added, “Franklin said, ‘FINALLY GOT HER OUTSIDE!’”
Thankfully, Mom reassured everyone in the comment section that although the doggy tackle hurt a bit, it was all in good fun and she was totally fine! Franklin may be a massive puppy with many snowy winters ahead, but he’ll always remember his very first one fondly!
