Rescued Black Labrador Tries to Bring Stray Cat His Toys After Falling Instantly in Love

Dogs and cats often develop close bonds, despite the stereotype that they are natural-born enemies. Many canines and kitties form friendships over time, sometimes becoming inseparable.

Rhys the black Labrador recently spotted a stray cat lingering by his door. Rather than barking at her or backing off, the canine cutie clearly wanted to be friends.

The video from @brookemorosca opened with Rhys staring at a furry feline sitting outside his door. “Watch the stray dog I rescued from the street fall in love with a stray cat,” the onscreen text read.

Apparently, the pretty kitty had been wandering in the neighborhood, and no one knew whether she was a stray or someone’s outdoor cat. She soon began camping outside of Rhys’s home, peeking through the door window.

“Last week she just started showing up on our patio,” the story continued. “She even almost walked through the open door one day. She would just watch Rhys and I.”

As time went on, the stray cat got more comfortable hanging around and would lay down in front of the door for hours. Rhys began looking forward to these visits and started curling up by the door to be near the feline fur baby. The loving Labrador even brought toys over for the cat to see, hoping to solidify a friendship.

Rhys May Get a Feline Sister

The precious pooch’s mom saw the bond between Rhys and the cat getting stronger and offered the stray some sustenance.

“I put out some food and water for her and she hasn’t left our balcony for almost two straight days,” the text revealed as Rhys and the feline looked at each other through the window, practically nose to nose. The cat even started to paw at the door to get closer to her new pal.

The two fur babies settled for lying down near the door as close as they could get, despite the glass separating them. Rhys was miffed that his mom wouldn’t let them officially meet, but she wanted to ensure their safety for their first no-barrier playdate.

“It looks like I’ll be figuring out how to get a stray cat to the vet,” the video concluded, with the caption adding, “Follow along for updates — I fear we were chosen.”

It looks like Rhys may soon have a kitty sister.
