There’s nothing like a video of a puppy‘s zoomies to light up your day, and this adorable Golden Retriever puppy will give you a laugh!
In a TikTok video, Birdie the puppy’s zoomies session on the couch was caught on camera by her mom at the right moment. The video captioned, “my favorite type of zoomies are on the couch,” showed Birdie running up and down the couch excitedly, while her dad kept an eye on her.
In the text overlay, Birdie’s mom wrote, “It’s about that time of night again,” as she made her way around the couch for a few laps. Birdie then suddenly made a quick turn to “bark into one of the blankets,” before she continued her race around the couch.
Users online couldn’t get enough of the adorable moment, with users gushing over how “cute” the “puppy zoomies” can be, especially at that young age. One user couldn’t get enough of how funny “The bark into the blanket” was as Birdie zoomed around.

Another user loved that Birdie’s dad was “unfazed” by her antics and was glad that “he scooted up for more room for the bay.”
One other person recalled that they “used to call this ‘puppy power hour’ when our Pomeranian was a puppy. It would happen at 9 p.m. ON THE DOT every night.”
All about the infamous zoomies
So what exactly is going on when a puppy or dog gets the zoomies?
Frenetic Random Activity Periods (FRAPs), best known as zoomies, are sudden bursts of energy where a dog may suddenly start running around and may even spin in circles.
While there isn’t a specific reason that dogs may feel this sudden burst of energy, experts at Cornell explain that FRAPs allow dogs to “release pent-up energy” or “alleviate stress.” Puppies may suddenly feel this burst of energy and excitement at certain times of the day, but it can also happen randomly.
This perplexing, but adorable behavior is more common in puppies, but some dogs may occasionally get the zoomies even as they get older. Cornell also reveals that it could be a sign that a puppy wants to play, or just a way for them to express how happy they are to see you if they’re left at home all day.
Puppies are not the only ones that may experience the zoomies. Other animals, like cats and even horses, may get this energy burst and exhibit this adorable behavior as well. It can be a little chaotic when they get the zoomies, but it’s a joy to see animals so happy and excited.
