Funny Newfoundland Refusing To Leave the Snow Is All Toddler Energy

Not all dogs like a change in weather, particularly if there’s one season they look forward to most. Some prefer sunny skies and heat, and then there are the silly, goofy pups who’d rather sleep outside in a blizzard than endure hot temps.

This describes Homer, a funny Newfoundland, who’s obsessed with snow. This isn’t the kind of thing just any dog would love, but for Homer, there’s nowhere else he’d rather be (sorry to Mom, though!).

In a February 16 video shared by @homerthenewf, Mom and Homer take their usual walk as the snow falls around them. This is a tricky thing with a winter pup because, as Homer demonstrates, he’d rather lie in the fluffy snow than continue walking. Mom even fears people passing by might think he’s not OK, but the Newfie doesn’t care!

His toddler-style silent tantrum is relatable to any pet parent with a stubborn pup. I can definitely relate, as my Corgi also enjoys cooler weather and will completely ignore anything I say while she’s trying to enjoy it!

It’s not Homer’s first go-around with Mom over things like this. For years, he’s been planting himself in the snow and making the proclamation that he’s never going inside, and no one can make him! If Mom dares to try, he’s a big boy, so good luck with that.

Newfoundlands Are Built for Cold Weather

For a breed known as devoted, sweet, and patient dogs, Newfoundlands make amazing companions with a rare stubborn streak.

As one of the world’s biggest breeds with coats built for cold weather, it’s a good thing Newfies are famously docile family dogs with an affinity for children. They only take a stand when it’s something they feel strongly about, and even then, they’re gentle giants who are more likely to get their feelings hurt when told no as opposed to arguing about it.

Still, Homer makes a good case for just letting these cutie-pies do as they must. If it makes them happy, that’s all that matters!
