I learned very early on that my cats were never going to be the kind of pets who would tolerate me dressing them up… not on Halloween or otherwise. It’s kind of a bummer as their mom, but honestly, I get it — it can’t be fun feeling restricted by clothing when you’re used to living life freely!
That doesn’t mean I can’t deeply admire other people’s cats who do allow their parents to add a little extra razzle dazzle to their already adorable appearance, including the orange cat in the video below who has the internet falling in love with him and his outfit.
After seeing Kona’s adorable yellow plaid bow tie in this video shared by @konakaikaleo on TikTok earlier this week, it’s clear that he was made to be a dapper kind of guy, and of course, one of the commenters said he reminds them of Bill Nye the Science Guy.
If you went to school in the ’90s and the early 2000s, that name is very familiar to you… and it’s hard to deny the resemblance. He is wearing Bill’s signature accessory, after all.
In case you need a little refresher about who Bill is, he’s this guy — science obsessed and always wearing a bow tie, just like Kona.
See? The comparisons totally check out.

While being compared to Bill Nye is obviously a huge compliment — particularly for millennials who grew up watching his videos in science class — it’s hardly the only one this handsome boy received in the comments.
“Kona’s bow tie makes him look like he has good credit!” one commenter wrote, which is totally true; he looks like the kind of cat who loves to stay ahead of his finances.
Another viewer said it looked like he was all dressed up in his “Sunday best,” which is also totally true.
If you’re hoping your cat can look as dapper as Kona does, your best bet is to buy them a bow tie like the one he’s wearing in the video — one that’s attached to a collar, especially if they’re used to wearing a regular collar most of the time.
Some cats are never going to be into dressing up a little (including both of mine), but that’s okay. We love them for so many other reasons, too!
