Golden Retriever’s Reaction to Mom Stepping On Her Toe Is Pure Cuteness Overload

My dogs have the most adorable expressions over simple, everyday things. My Dachshund looks very indignant when I reject her umpteenth request for some of my dinner. Her Pug brother feigns confusion when he isn’t allowed to go out and play at midnight. They process typical disappointments in a somewhat dramatic fashion.

Lucie the Golden Retriever seems to have similar responses. The delicate dog was visibly taken aback when her mom took an accidental misstep.

In the TikTok from @luciewoos, the gorgeous Golden walked down the hall when her mom stepped on the pup’s toe by mistake. Lucie immediately jumped around and let out some “woo” sounds to express her displeasure.

Her mom apologized profusely, but Lucie would have none of it. She walked off to the other room to tell her dad the whole upsetting story. He tried soothing her but to no avail.

Lucie’s mom followed her in the hopes of smoothing things over but Lucie just gave her a cold stare from the door. She added some disgruntled barks to emphasize irritation over the situation.

“Some may call it an overreaction but it’s just Lucie communicating how she knows best, woos and sass,” the caption explained.

Followers got a kick out of Lucie’s annoyance and compared her to a temperamental teenager.

“She didn’t even yelp like it hurt she was just mad at the audacity,” one pointed out.

“That first woo was very much a moody teenager,” another remarked.

“And then dad telling her that he loves her as if you don’t,” a follower noted.

“‘Don’t be sorry, be better’ — Lucie, probably,” someone joked.

Golden Retrievers Are Highly Expressive

This beloved breed is known for their loyalty, playfulness and adorable personality. Golden Retrievers show their feelings in a variety of ways to express their emotions and needs.

As Lucie so aptly demonstrated, Goldens are vocally expressive with their barks, growls, whines, and woos. They also give plenty of clues to their mood through their facial expressions, posture, ear position and tail placement.

These dogs communicate through their movements as well. For instance, a raised paw can express a need or curiosity, where a bow can signal that they want to play.

Lucie made it pretty clear how she felt in several ways. Hopefully her mom was able to get into the Golden’s good graces again.
