Humans and animals may not share many physical traits, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t similarities between us. After all, some people and animals can understand one another without even using words. Animals enjoy many of the same simple pleasures as we do, like a delicious snack and a good night’s sleep—just ask Dobby!
As he proves in a priceless November 24 TikTok video, this aardvark is one of Whipsnade Zoo’s sleepiest residents. One of the UK conservation zoo’s animal caretakers recorded the wholesome moment when Dobby refused to wake up, and the animal’s new fans are talking about more than his adorable sleeping position.
What an icon! Dobby is an adorable aardvark who knows what he wants, and no one is going to stop him from having it. And right now, what he wants is five more minutes in bed!
“Not a morning person, I’m guessing. I feel your pain,” one commenter sympathized. “The struggle is real, mate.”

You can say that again! Leaving a warm bed on a chilly morning is difficult for anyone, but at least Dobby has an encouraging friend to help him start his day. Even so, zoo visitors report that he still sleeps most of the day away from the comfort of his back.
“This cuteness overload is always asleep when we visit,” commented @lri2102. “I just love them, and would love to see them up and about.”

This zoo animal is more than happy to spend the whole day snoozing beneath his heat lamp, but even he has responsibilities to take care of. At least he doesn’t have as big a job as his cousins do in the wild!
Aardvarks in the Wild
Whipsnade Zoo shared a few fun facts about aardvarks in the video’s caption, proving just how easy Dobby has it. This guy gets to sleep all day while others are hard at work!
“They play an important role across two-thirds of the continent of Africa,” according to the UK zoo, “digging burrows which can provide other animals with protection from the heat and wildfires.”
How cool! Aardvarks are the unsung heroes of their biomes, and they deserve as many naps as they like. Even Dobby couldn’t be more deserving of catching some Zs.
