Stray Cat’s Dramatic Cage Exit Has Everyone Rolling

Trying to be a good person, TikToker @omwa decided to help a stray cat who had been fighting to survive outdoors in below-freezing temperatures. They set up a cat trap, hoping the food would lure the cat inside, and it worked. They brought the cat home and planned to release it in a bathroom since it was a small, enclosed space.

They say hindsight is 20/20, and it’s pretty clear @omwa would agree after what happened next. The cat makes a very dramatic exit from the cage, and the chaos doesn’t stop there!

@omwa gave themselves a good piece of advice and cracked us all up in the video’s caption: “Note to self: Next time, open away from yourself.” We can’t disagree with that!

Commenters Try To Help the Situation

Of course, there were plenty of funny comments about the terrified kitty’s reaction to being stuck indoors with humans that they probably don’t trust. @Brinda01 got more than 50k likes when she joked, “Glad she didn’t overreact, LOL!”

But @omwa also asked for tips and advice to calm the cat, and people stepped up. @Abby shared, “I’ve tamed feral cats before. For the longest time, I didn’t try to interact with them. I sit in the room with them and read out loud, or sing, or just sit. Let them get used to you. Eventually, I worked up to getting closer and closer slowly. If the cat ever acts uncomfortable, I back off.”

@Sara’sDance added, “Let her decompress in there, bring soft stuff, her food and water, the cat litter, and some place for her to hide. She will eventually understand that you are not a threat.”

Commenter @Cami Wami agreed, “This! I’m currently fostering four feral kittens, and 3/4 have come around to accepting pets and occasionally being picked up. The one last one is still hesitant, but is starting to not run away as quickly, so I just sit by him and talk to him.”

It sounds like it’s going to take patience and a lot of time before this stray cat relaxes and realizes that they’ve got it made in their new home! We’re all waiting for an update, so hopefully, @omwa will share one soon.
